Research Peptide RFQ Template: Product Code, Specs, Price, and COA Fields
B2B Procurement | 2026-09-13 | 12 min read
A practical research peptide request for quotation template covering product code, strength, vial count, price, COA, packaging, and delivery fields.
Why a structured RFQ improves peptide sourcing
Research peptide quotations are difficult to compare when one supplier gives a product name, another gives a vial size, and a third gives only a headline price. A request for quotation (RFQ) should create the same data structure for every supplier. That makes procurement faster and reduces errors when product names, strengths, blends, and analytical documents are reviewed by different people.
This template is intended for lawful laboratory research and B2B purchasing. It is not a personal-use or administration guide.
Section 1: identify the exact product
Start with the exact product name and code. Include synonyms only as a separate search field. For example, Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, Retatrutide, BPC-157, and TB-500 should each have their own line item. A product described only as a GLP-1 peptide or repair peptide is too broad for an approval record.
Request these fields:
- Product name and supplier product code.
- Sequence or chemical identity when relevant.
- Salt, counterion, terminal modification, or stereochemistry.
- Single product or blend designation.
- Intended research category and any restricted-use wording.
If the request is for a blend, list every component and the requested ratio or final strength separately. Do not allow a blend to be quoted as a generic single peptide.
Section 2: make the specification comparable
Price has meaning only when the specification is fixed. State the requested strength, vial count, total quantity, packaging format, and whether the amount is gross material or net peptide content. Keep IU and milligram units separate when comparing different catalog categories.
For each line item, ask suppliers to show:
- Strength per vial and total quantity per kit.
- Number of vials and closure or packaging format.
- Purity target and how purity is measured.
- Identity method and expected molecular result.
- Storage and shipping conditions.
- Minimum order quantity and lead-time estimate.
This prevents a 5mg quote from being compared with a 30mg quote as if the packages were equivalent.
Section 3: ask for a useful price
An RFQ should state whether the price includes packaging, analytical documents, shipping, insurance, taxes, or customs handling. Ask for currency, quote validity period, payment terms, and the price basis. A unit price without a quantity basis cannot support a meaningful comparison.
For recurring buyers, request pricing at the intended order tiers and ask whether the quoted specification remains fixed across repeat batches. Keep reference price, promotional price, and custom quotation in separate fields so a historical purchase can be reconstructed.
Section 4: define the COA package
Ask whether the COA is linked to the quoted batch or is a representative example. A useful package may include HPLC purity, mass spectrometry identity, chromatograms or spectra where available, net content basis, water, residual solvents, counterion, endotoxin, or other project-specific attributes.
The right test package depends on the laboratory's use. A screening assay, stability study, formulation project, and distributor release may require different evidence. The RFQ should say which fields are mandatory and which are available on request.
Section 5: include logistics and documentation
International B2B orders may require a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, end-use statement, and destination-specific documentation. Ask the supplier which documents are included and which must be arranged by the buyer or customs broker. Confirm that the product description and research-use wording are consistent across the quote and shipping documents.
Copy-ready RFQ structure
Use this sequence in an email or procurement form:
- Product name and code.
- Exact strength, vial count, and total quantity.
- Purity and identity requirements.
- Required COA fields and batch linkage.
- Packaging, storage, and shipping destination.
- Requested quantity tiers and delivery window.
- Price basis, currency, validity, and payment terms.
- Required commercial and customs documents.
- Research-use declaration and buyer organization details.
The more precisely the request is written, the less time the buyer spends correcting a quote after it arrives.
Supplier response review
Compare responses line by line. Mark missing fields as unanswered rather than assuming they are included. Verify the product code, strength, total material, analytical scope, shipping terms, and price basis before approval. For high-value or recurring supply, keep the accepted RFQ with the purchase order and batch record.
